The artist lives in Connemara and the sea is at the heart of her work; her traditional house and garden face the ocean and she has created another garden of ruins and bent trees in the immediate vicinity. The project was to make a studio, a simple light box whose open end façade would catch sea and air. The rectangular shape was turned within the available ground to face the sea and avoid the removal of trees, also creating a triangular space against the gable of the house. The other side wall of the studio has windows giving views directly into woodland. Internally, the room is a cube on plan with proportionate height in section.
